Football Update

Varsity football is currently five spots out of playoffs with three games remaining. For us to make it to the playoffs, we have to win out. For those who don’t know what “win out” means, win out means we will have to win the last three remaining games of the regular season. I believe we will win against Pandora and Vanlue. The Hopewell Loudon game will be a tough game though. If we can go 6-4 we will make it to the playoffs. The varsity football team currently has a record of 4-4 overall on the year. I have faith though that we will go 6-4 and find a way to make it back in the playoffs. Also, the football team is 2-4 in the Blanchard Valley Conference.
JV football has a current record of 0-6 so far this season. They play their last game of the season Saturday at home against the Rockets of Pandora. They have had a rough season but they also have had a lot of players hurt this season too. Hopefully they end on a win because it is always good to say that you won a game after you have had a rough season.
Junior high football had their last game of the season against Pandora Gilboa. They had a great year this year. Out of the first four games they were 5-2 on the year. I do know though overall that they had a great season of football and want to continue on for next season. They beat the Rockets of Pandora on Thursday night.

Football is going really well; we have our ups and downs but overall we are doing well. This season we have accomplished many goals like throwing the ball more, and we also have a kicker this year to kick field goals. Let’s start with week one against Holgate at home.
When we played Holgate we played like we had a new team on the block. We looked fantastic. We hardly had any mistakes. The only mistake we had was an interception in the 2nd half of the game. We scored by running the ball, and we scored by throwing the ball. Our
defense had a couple mistakes with blocking tackles, but other than we played awesome. In result to playing well we won the game 41-20. Now let's go to week 2 against Otsego at Otsego.
During the Otsego game we’re coming in with a 1-0 start. We didn't have any mistakes in the game. We looked impressive. Our offense was excited and our defense was excited. It was neat seeing the players on the sidelines get excited. We have not had that happen in forever. Again we scored by running the ball and by throwing the ball. We also had a fumble recovery in the second half of the ball game which was nice too. In result to the great playing we won the game 42-20. Now let’s go to week three against Leipsic at Leipsic.
On week three we played Leipsic at Leipsic. The first half of the game was the better half of the game. When we did have the lead at halftime, the score at halftime was 10-6. In result to playing terrible we lost 27-10. Now we are heading back home to play Arcadia for week four.
Week four we played totally awesome. Our offense had no mistakes during the game. We scored by running the ball, and we also scored by throwing the ball too. Our defense had 3 interceptions recoveries and 2 fumble recoveries in the game. At halftime we had a score of 37-0. By the end of the game the final score was 51-6; in result we won the game. Now let's go to rival week for week 5.
It was rival week in North Baltimore as we took on Van Buren. We ran up the middle a lot which never works because we did it for 10 in the M.A.L and did not get anywhere with it at all. Unfortunately we lost 51-0. On to week 6 against Riverdale.
They picked us to win in the paper; I believe we will win. I honestly think we will go 8-2 or 7-3 and at least make it to state for playoffs. I hope we win state though. This is what The Courier said about them picking us for tonight's game, “ Falcons are getting better and wins will come. I wouldn’t be surprised if they pull off the upset here”. I don't see this happening. What I see happening is I think we will score big time like we did against Arcadia.
Week six both the offense and the defense played awesome. The offense scored a couple touchdowns as the defense held Riverdale to only scoring one touchdown in the entire game. We had the lead 10-0 at halftime. By the time the final score came around we won 23-6. For week seven we play Cory Rawson tonight at home for Homecoming; let's get another win tonight Tigers WHO WE?

The Tigers are off to a strong start this season, winning against Holgate and Otsego, and only losing to Leipsic. When interviewed, Jimmy Smith said, “ I really enjoy my team, and I think we will have a strong rest of the season.” Many other players agree. The team has a record high of teammates; there being 36 members on the team.
When asked about the coaching staff, Sean Watson, senior, replied: “My coaches are the best.” Greg Bishop has been head coach for three years now and is an integral reason why the team is doing so well.
This week the Tigers are playing Arcadia at home with kickoff starting at 7 p.m. Immediately after the game the 7th annual dodgeball tournament will be held at the high school. Anyone is welcome to the tournament, so come out and have some fun.

The North Baltimore Leipsic Football Game 2015
By: Tyler Schwartz - September 28, 2015
The Leipsic Vikings hosted the North Baltimore Tigers in what has probably has been the biggest game yet this season for the Tigers. The Tigers played the Vikings close and hard, but in the end came up short with a 27-10 loss. The Tigers went into halftime with a 10-7 lead, but the Vikings came back in the second half. The Vikings shut out the Tigers in the second half, scoring three more touchdowns for the 27-10 win. The Tigers are now 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Blanchard Valley Conference.
Taylor Bishop had 25 carries, getting a mere 27 rushing yards. The Tigers’ run game was poor in this game. However, North Baltimore had a good passing game that night with Brady Rader throwing 16 passes; 8 of which were complete for a total of 143 yards passing for the Tigers. Six of those completions were catches that were compliments of Sean Watson who had 6 catches for 108 yards. Noah Brian also kicked a 26 yard field goal and had a 15 yard reception for a touchdown.
The Tigers had a good game, but had a rough second half that cost them the game in a 27-10 loss.

Holgate Tigers vs. North Baltimore Tigers, Battle of the Beasts
By: Eli Smith - September 14, 2015
Friday, August 28th the football team beat the Holgate Tigers. The game was held in North Baltimore. Even though there was a delay due to a transformer malfunction, it was a good game all around. The final score was 41-20. When asked how he felt they did as a team, Sean Watson said, “we did a great job working together on defense. We also did a good job talking on defense”. “We need to swarm to the ball on defense and gang tackle. “We also need to improve on pass blocking and play more physically”, freshman Tyler Schwartz said when asked what they could do to improve.
September 4th, the North Baltimore Tigers are back in action against the Otsego Knights. Tyler Schwartz said, “I think we will look much less sloppy and give up less yards”, when asked how they will do next week after fixing these problems.
The boys have been putting in a lot more work at practice preparing for the next game. Sean Watson said, “We are running more at practice.”

The 2015 North Baltimore Tigers’ Football Team
By: Tyler Schwartz - August 27, 2015
-Hello students and faculty! Welcome back to school. 2015 is going to be a very exciting school year, and the 2015 football season is looking very exciting as well. This article is the pre-season coverage on the 2015 North Baltimore Football season. The team is better, faster, physically and mentally stronger than they were last year. They are looking forward to a great season. There are many exciting changes in the team this year including new players, coaches, and uniforms.
Coach Bishop and Coach Everhart had many thoughts to share about this season, as did team captain Brody Naugle, freshman Bryant Matthes and starting quarterback Brady Rader.
The football team was also very involved with the Stripes program this past summer and had the opportunity to get to know and work with Alex Long of The University of Findlay Football team. When asked about this experience Bryant Matthes, a freshman on the team, said “I love Alex as a brother, he was a great help to the team. As a team we got physically and mentally stronger because of him.” Brady Rader, the starting quarterback thought “He had a big impact on the team.” The team also got new jerseys and helmets this season. When asked about the new helmets and jerseys freshman Bryant Matthes said “I love them, they are really cool and I can’t wait to wear them on friday nights.” The football team also has many other exciting things coming their way as it was announced at the board meeting on Tuesday, August 25th that sod will be put down for the new field soon. The only bad thing is the fact that the football team has already dealt with injury which is what hurt them last year. Owen Stewart is currently out for a severe shoulder issue and will soon be getting an MRI. Tyler Schwartz is out for the season with a broken and out of place tailbone. When asked about these injuries Coach Everhart and Coach Bishop said “Anytime a player gets injured it hurts the team. It slows the development of the injured player and the team as a whole. The more competition the better (overall) the team becomes.” On the upside, both the players and coaches are looking forward to a great season. When asked what their goals were for the season, Coach Bishop and Coach Everhart said “Our goals as coaches are to get the best out of each player and instill in them that hard work constitutes success.” The boys are excited for a great season! Be sure to come out and support them every Friday night.
