North Baltimore Softball Clinches BVC
By: Tyler Schwartz - May 26, 2016
Being an athlete can be an amazing thing. Only those who have experienced the emotional side of athleticism and the true love for a sport can bring about moments like this one. Hearing your name announced as being part of a team that just did something special, it’s an amazing phenomenon. Hearing your name and number as the announcer reads off the names of a team that just won a league title, it’s a special thing. Our Lady Tigers got an opportunity to experience this as they beat the Leipsic Vikings on Saturday the 14th, winning the BVC. The silly string flying and the smiles busting, the girls had one heck of a day on Saturday. Let’s take a quick look back at the girl’s successful Saturday!
On Saturday the 14th, the North Baltimore Lady Tigers beat the Leipsic Vikings in a four to zero shut out to become current co-champions with the 9-1 (BVC) Arlington Red Devils whose game this Thursday will determine whether they will be able to call themselves co-champions or if the Tigers will be able to have all the glory. This means that the Tigers, who are 10-1 in the BVC, will be at the very least co-league champs. North Baltimore’s Bean sat down seven in the win and Sophomore Paige Hyatt lead the team in hits singling three times alone. The girls played a good, hard, game and their hard work payed off as they held the co-champs signs as seen above.
Coaches Rob Brian and Frankie Hernandez got the “pleasure” of being bombed with silly string upon taking the title and the team and coaches alike enjoyed a fun, music filled bus ride home. Upon arriving home the girls were greeted by their supporting friends and family and enjoyed a fire truck ride around North Baltimore to celebrate. iWrite would like to congratulate the Lady Tigers on a successful season and for clinching the league title.

Softball Update
By: Taylor Kelley - March 24, 2016
This year there are a lot more girls on the softball team than usual for NB, and it looks like a promising season! Their first official game was March 28th. The girls had two scrimmages beforehand, and so far they have had plenty of games that were fair games. According to Makenna Ray, “we’re not a bad team this year. We just need to learn to work together and I guarantee we would do fine.”
The girls have a lot of talent and a lot going for them; they just need to learn how to pick each other up when they are down. They have a 5-11 record right now, but Katelyn Weinandy says she believes they will definitely be winning more games this year and getting their record up, because they are way better then they are putting out. Go out and support the girls; many of them says it helps them concentrate when they see their friends and family watching! It’ll be fun.

Senior, Brody Naugle, said, “This season will go great. We have a lot of young athletes that need some experience, but overall we're looking at a good season! The softball team is looking to have another exciting season, with a few seniors looking to take charge!
Cheyenne Hernandez said “This season I'm looking forward to all of our league games. We have a pretty good chance of making a big difference.” Look forward for more updates to come!
