Dudes' Volleyball
By: Tyler Schwartz - January 13, 2016
The jolly holiday season has come and gone. People turning off their lights and taking down their tree. The smell of peppermint fading as the smells of spring begin to peek their heads out. This also means that Christmas break has come and gone, which also means that winter homecoming is almost here. Homecoming court has been announced, and the students are preparing for a fun week. One special thing about winter homecoming is Dudes’ Volleyball. Dudes’ Volleyball is hosted every winter homecoming and much like powderpuff football for the girls, Dudes’ Volleyball gives the guys a chance to play some volleyball.
In this event the junior and senior students for teams and play against one another with the winning team going on to play against the male teachers at the pep assembly on the Friday before the game. It is now the thursday before the homecoming game and the dude’s volleyball victors have been crowned. The Hooty Who’s won, sweeping the other team and will be playing the teachers this Friday. The team includes Noah Brian, Hank Matthes, Sean Watson, Brody Naugle, Tyler Stimmel, and Rikko Phamakao. The losing team, the Peaches and Cream included Eli Smith, Chad Wright, Alex Nichols, Jimmy Smith, Taylor Bishop, and Andrew Hollinger.
Ms. Ferrell, the teacher behind organizing homecoming quoted, “The MVP has to be Eli. He had a hilarious hit. He went running back for a ball that was high to begin with. He then went for it and totally missed it. It was hilarious!” She was oozing with confidence when she said “I look forward to beating the Hooty Who’s at the pep rally on Friday!”
Eli Smith said that “The MVP has to be Sean Watson.” But, he also noted that Chad Wright tore up to court as well. We will see who will take the crown this Friday when the teachers take on the Hooty Who’s!

On Friday January 15th, the Tiger boys’ basketball team has its homecoming game against the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains.
Last year, the Tigers beat the Chieftains, and they hope to continue this streak with the big game on Friday. Last homecoming the Tigers also won, beating Patrick Henry.
This homecoming, there are many things happening. Paws for a Cause will be accepting donations for Pennies for Patients, which is a cause to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma patients. Also, between games, the homecoming court will be announced and a king and queen will be crowned.
I hope to see you at the game!

Homecoming Review
By: Tyler Schwartz - October 26, 2015
Fall homecoming has come and gone again, gone in the blink of an eye, blown away like that of leaves in the fall. Homecoming may be over, but the memories from it will be around for quite a time to come. From North Baltimore’s Fresh Princes owning the dance floor to the Fresh Men in their dresses to Mr. Lamb getting smashed by a pie to the freshman upsetting the seniors and sophomores in the egg pass, the memories of homecoming have a long life ahead of them.
The seniors were barely victorious over the juniors in battle of the classes. Senior football player Alex Nichols was crowned king and senior volleyball player Kenzie Carles was crowned queen. The Tigers suffered a heart breaking 14-17 loss against the Cory Rawson Hornets in the homecoming game Friday night. Although the homecoming game was lost, the student body had a fun homecoming week and had a great time tearing the dance floor to shreds at the homecoming dance Saturday night.
To recap: Freshman attendants were volleyball player Aliva Light and football player Brady Rader. Sophomore attendants were volleyball player Paige Hyatt and band member Noah Pelton. Junior attendants were volleyball player Makayla Light and quiz bowl member Aurilen Greeno. Last but certainly not least crowned king and queen were volleyball player Kenzie Carles and football player Alex Nichols. The other senior attendants were volleyball player Emma Rister, Cheyenne Hernandez, football player Hank Matthes and band member Tyler Stimmel.
When asked about being crowned queen Kenzie Carles said, “It was really fun and really cool. It was an honor to be crowned queen and to represent North Baltimore.” Alex Nichols was also asked about being crowned King and quoted, “It was a really fun experience, and I was proud to be crowned king.”
The battle of the classes ended up as follows: the freshman came in fourth and the sophomores came in in front of the freshman taking third. The seniors just barely pulled off first beating the juniors with a one point win.
Ms. Ferrell was asked about her first Who We Nation Fall Homecoming pep rally, she said “It was great! I had a great time and it was definitely an experience. I loved the lip sync, especially the juniors and freshman! But, it was a great time and I look forward to the next one.”
Fall Homecoming 2015 was a success here at North Baltimore! Spirit week was a blast as always and the assembly was exciting as ever. Even though we lost the homecoming football game, we, as a student body, kept the energy level high and had a great time!

Pep Assembly
By: Eli Smith - October 26, 2015
On Friday, October 9th, North Baltimore had a pep assembly for the 2015 Fall Homecoming. The assembly held many events for the Battle of the Classes. These events included tug-of-war, the lip sync battle, pieing of a teacher, and many more. The two staff members to get pied were math teacher Mr. Lamb, and superintendent, Mr. Delaney. The seniors won the tug-o-war and the bubble gum challenge, but the juniors pulled out a win with the wall decorating competition and the lip sync battle.
All of these events were meant to get everyone excited for the football game that night against Cory Rawson. Sadly, even with all the excitement the Tigers lost the game 17 to 14.

It is that time of year again! The leaves are turning beautiful shades of red and gold, the weather’s cooling down, the Friday night lights are shining bright, and Ms. Lauer is drinking her pumpkin spice coffee. It’s fall! Fall also means another thing, fall homecoming! Fall homecoming seems to be the student’s favorite homecoming of the year. This could be because a football game is not a football game, but a social event. Everyone loves football games and homecoming only spices things up more.
The homecoming court attendants have been selected and are as excited as ever. Freshman attendants are starting varsity quarterback Brady Rader and volleyball player Alivia Light. The sophomore attendants are band member Noah Pelton and volleyball player Paige Hyatt. Junior attendants are volleyball player Makayla Light and quiz bowl member Aurilen Greeno. Running for King are football player Hank Matthes, cross country runner Tyler Stimmel, and football player Alex Nichols. The theme for this year’s fall homecoming is the 80’s. The themes for each individual grades are as follows: the seventh graders have Pac Man. The eighth graders have Indiana Jones. The freshman have Footloose, the sophomores have Beetlejuice, the juniors have Star Wars, and the seniors have Grease.
The spirit days are as follows. Monday is Pajama Day, Tuesday is Student Teacher Swap Day, Wednesday is Twin Day, Thursday is Anything 80’s, and Friday is the classic Tiger Spirit Day. When asked about this year’s homecoming the organizer of it, Ms. Farrell said “ I am very excited about the pep rally. I am excited for the parade and game on Friday as well. I am very excited to see all the class floats as well. I am looking most forward to the pep rally and the events like the egg pass.” Ms. Ferrell also said she looks forward to organizing homecoming again in the future. Ms. Ferrell also quoted “When I was in high school my favorite part of homecoming was spirit week. I loved dressing up with my friends. I loved teacher swap day on Tuesday!” Ms. Ferrell is very excited about homecoming, and you should be too. Make sure to dress up during spirit week and attend the parade, football game, and the homecoming dance.
