By: Eli Smith - May 20, 2016
On Wednesday the 18th and Thursday the 19th the girls and boys preliminary districts took place. The girls were on Wednesday at Gibsonburg, and the boys were at Findlay on Thursday. Many athletes made it on to finals on saturday. From the girls team, Megan Ernsberger went to finals in the 100m hurdles and Kylie Brooker went for disc. For the boys Zach Meggitt went to finals for shot, Noah Brain in long jump, and Tyler Stimmel in the 400m dash.
“I was happy to end my season on a good note! It didn't end perfectly with moving on to Regionals, but I was able to hang with some of the best throwers in northwest Ohio, So I'll take it!” Meggitt said.
Out of all the team, two athletes made it on to regionals. These two athletes are Jordan Bucher for pole vault, and Megan Ernsberger for her 100m hurdles.
“I am nervous because of the better competition, but I want to step up my game and get a good jump,” Bucher said.
Megan and Jordan compete on Wednesday May 25th at Tiffin. Finals are on Saturday the 28th. Go out and support the two onto the state track meet!

Local Girl Breaks Decade Long Record
By: Tyler Schwartz - May 9, 2016
Saturday, April 16th was a big day for a small town girl named Kiley. Kiley Brooker of North Baltimore High School broke a twelve year old record as she threw the discus a whopping one hundred nine feet and one inch at the St. Wendelin Invitational. Kiley is a freshman at North Baltimore and plays both softball and track in the spring. She has participated in track for two years previously at the junior high level and is now in her first year of high school track. Being that she is only a freshman, many Tiger Track fans project her to shatter her own record several times over before graduating high school. The image pictured to the right is a picture of Kiley as she was throwing the record breaking throw. When asked about the shattering of the record Kiley said, “Well to be honest it was kind of a surprise since we never get to practice disc because of the dang rain! But on a more serious note, I felt really accomplished considering I’m only a freshman. I was just so happy to do something like that in something I have a passion for.” Kiley ended up taking fourth in discus, placing North Baltimore fourth of seventeen schools in the event. North Baltimore landed in the top ten, taking seventh in the meet overall. iWrite would like to personally congratulate Kiley on her accomplishment. If you would like to see Kiley possibly break the record again be sure to be at their invitational tonight in Van Buren. Again, congratulations to Kiley, and go Tigers!
Track & Field Update
By: Brandon Lanning -May 9, 2016
The varsity tiger track team just had a meet at Ottawa Hills on May 3rd. The tiger track team placed in a lot of our events that night.
There are two more track meets left for the regular season. The next meet is on May 9th at home, and then the last meet is May 13th at Liberty Benton. The meet on May 9th, starts at 4:30, and the BVC meet also starts at 4:30.
Starting next week, it is our post season. The girls start their post season at Gibsonburg, and the boys start their post season at Findlay. Then the week after that is Regionals and those are being held at Tiffin Columbian. After Regionals is States, if we make it. State track and field is being held at The Ohio State University. States is the first weekend in June. They are Friday and Saturday which is going to be the third and fourth of June. First comes first we have to take care of business at BVC’s before the team needs to start thinking about districts. Then after that the team can take care of business at districts and then so on and so forth.

Track & Field Update

The track season is starting off very well. Our first meet was at Seneca East, and we had our first meet jitters but other than that we did very well. Next we had Patrick Henry. Megan Ernsberger, senior, won all of the events she was in, including the 100 meter hurdles, 100 meter dash and the 300 meter hurdles. Then Brandon Lanning, junior, got 24.7 on the 100 meter, 1:45 in the 400 meter and shotput seven feet 11 inches.
arysville was the most recent meet for the NB Tigers.Once again the team all did very well. Megan Ernsberger won two out of the three events she was in which was 100 meter, 100 meter hurdles. Zack Meggitt, senior, won shot with a throw of 42 feet 11 inches and won disk with a throw of 98 feet. Kylie Brooker ,feshman won shot won disk with a throw of 106.8 feet. Kylie is 1 inch away from breaking the school record for girls’ disks.
Our next meet will be April 7th at Van Buren for the Van Buren Invitational. Brandon will not be competing at that meet; he will be competing at the Bowling Green Invitational. He will be competing there because he got invited because there is another wheelchair athlete at their school. The Van Buren meet will be a big invitational because there will be somewhere around 16 teams competing. Good luck to the Tiger Track and Field Team!

Track & Field Hype
By: Danny Crouse - February 28, 2015
Outdoor track is coming up soon and hopefully North Baltimore's student athletes are getting ready for this year. Senior and 5 year track participant Tyler Stimmel claims he is ready for track and to prepare himself he replied “lifted a lot and I tried to run.” Tyler's favorite things about track are the racing, the team and winning!
Junior Kiah Powell was also interviewed. She is a 4th year track athlete and claims she is too ready for the outdoor track season. When asked if she had done anything to prepare herself she stated, ” I’ve thrown a few times and continued staying in shape.” Ms. Powell also stated her favorite thing about track is her coach Mr. Hopple and lifting.
Not everyone prepares him or her self for track in the same ways, but as long as you train you will be sure to have a great season.
