NBHS iWrite Cooking Show
By: Chad Wright - May 26, 2016
NBHS iWrite is trying out something new this year: cooking. “Minced Meringoo” is a spinoff of the tv series Chopped. It consists of three ingredients that the components must use in their dish. With there only being a microwave as a heating component, it makes things a little more difficult.
The teams are Barfay Bombers: Mike Gosline and Danny Crouse, Charelian Greenight: Chad Wright and Aurelian Greeno, Mean Cats: Lacey Hall and Josh Rockhill, Team Toobular: Tyler Stimmel and Eli Smith, and Up Like Trump: Taylor Kelly and Brandon Lanning.
Losing in the first round was Danny and Mike, making a not so good appetizer. When asked what he would do different Mike said “nothing the show is rigged.” With being totally untrue Mike and Danny could appear again for the final round; anyone has a chance. Also losing in the first round was Josh and Eli. When asked, “What did you think of the ingredients in your bag?” he responded, “it was unfair. Our dish was a beautiful sardine dish but one judge did not care for them.”
Losing in the second round, the entree round was, Lacey and Josh, as their meal didn't quite make the cut. Lacey stated, “it was really interesting to have to work with such a “huge” array of ingredients.” Next up the dessert round, Charelian Greenight and team Up Like Trump face off.
The main ingredients for the dessert round were popcorn, pretzels, spice gum drops, and superman ice cream. Although it's a weird combination, the teams had no problem thinking of desserts to make whether they be good or bad.
The winner of the dessert round was team Up Like Trump, making a combo of ice cream pretzels and popcorn. The losing team made a bad batch of flavored popcorn that was nice and soggy.
The overall winner of the “Minced Meringoo” challenge was Charelian Greenight, each teammate won $20,000 and will receive their checks in the mail.
